This poster is aimed at raising HIV/AIDS awareness in individuals who don't consider themselves to be at risk of contracting the disease. After learning of my friend's HIV diagnosis, I spoke to him and asked him how this could happen to him. He told me that he was well aware of precautionary measures aimed at preventing HIV contraction, but that he didn't properly protect himself because he never considered himself to be at risk. After polling some of the people my friend's support group, many of them came to the same conclusion—it just didn't seem like something that would affect them.
This poster seeks to battle that feeling of exemption by stripping down the message to the essentials. It's not overtly aimed at any one group, and the model's body is cut off below the eyes, anonymizing it and creating the idea that it could represent anybody.
