Earlier this summer, I completed a three week design intensive led by Erik Adigard, Martin Venezky and Jason Munn. Each instructor focused on different approaches to design. Jason Munn's unit focused on conceptual ideation, and our final project was to create a poster for a concert.

The band I worked with is a Swedish punk band called Masshysteri. Their sound defies stereotypical punk conventions with its melody and overall sense of smartness, yet it's still rooted in a raw, punk ethos. My design was a typographic solution constructed from dozens of pieces of glass. The way I photographed and treated the glass, along with the colors I chose, achieves an effect similar to the band's music—it's raw, but simultaneously sophisticated.
